In the ’70s and early ’80s, ABBA was one of the groups that most rock critics loved to hate. How could ABBA’s bubblegum Europop be so huge, critics wondered, at a time when challenging visionaries like Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello and Lou Reed were making records? But music doesn’t always have to be challenging, daring or provocative — it can simply entertain as long as it’s well done — and time has been much kinder to the Swedish outfit than those ’70s critics. Long after ABBA’s 1983 breakup, their recordings continue to sell — and in the ’90s and 2000s, ABBA covers have come from some unlikely places (including metal, industrial rock, techno and darkwave). This intriguing 2004 release finds Swedish trombonist/producer Nils Landgren putting a funk/neo-soul/hip-hop spin on ABBA’s songs, which works surprisingly well in an R&B-oriented environment. Then again, it isn’t all that surprising when you consider that ABBA had funk and disco influences. In their own glossy, sugary way, some of ABBA’s hits were funky — mildly funky, but funky nonetheless. So in some cases, Landgren takes Europop gems that already had a little funk to begin with — including “Voulez-Vous,” “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight”)” and “Money, Money, Money” — and gives them a great deal of funk. And even though ABBA’s classic versions of “Dancing Queen,” “SOS” and “Knowing Me, Knowing You” were a long way from hardcore R&B (more like hardcore Europop/Top 40), the tunes are certainly R&B-minded after Landgren interprets them. Employing various male and female vocalists, Landgren gives us some idea what the ABBA songbook might sound like in the hands of Jill Scott, R. Kelly, En Vogue or Erykah Badu. Long regarded as Japan’s number one DJ, the grand imperial DJ Muro is the self proclaimed ‘King Of Digging’ and boasts a long list of credentials which more than back up the claim. A Tokyo native who burst onto Japan’s nascent domestic hip-hop scene in the late 1980s part of the Krush Posse with DJ Krush and Go, Muro’s musical story finds him at various points wearing the hats of rapper, DJ, producer and remixer. His group Microphone Pager was the first Japanese rap crew to earn an international release (‘Planet Rap’, Tommy Boy, 1992), but it wasn’t until a visit to New York in 1996 and his guest spots on underground radio mix shows that his worth as a DJ began to win recognition. In 1997 he opened his store ‘Savage’ in Tokyo, and his record label ‘Incredible’ followed a year later. 1999 saw the release of his celebrated collaboration with NYC icons Lord Finesse and A.G., ‘The Vinyl Athletes.’
That Fatback Band were enormously influential to the advent of modern hip-hop is an undisputed fact. But it’s important, too, to remember how vital the group was to the 1970s funk scene — laying down reverberatingly heavy grooves without antics, combining a tough New York back story with surprising calypso breaks just for fun, and unerringly bringing feet to the dancefloor with unsurpassed energy and finesse. It’s odd, and sad really, that listeners would have to be reminded of this via an outstanding U.K. import. With 11 tracks highlighting the best of Fatback Band’s 1974-1979-era output, leaning heavily on mid-decade nuggets, there is not one moment to sit back and take a breather. From the brass that kicks off 1974′s “Mr Bass Man,” which remains one of the most overlooked funk jams to ever hit the streets, to the calypso backbeat that makes “Wicky Wacky” irrepressible and the rolling bass and hooky guitars that drive “Happy,” there is not one ounce of wasted space. Also of note is the incredibly textured “(Hey) I Feel Real Good,” which just vibrates — a crash of harmonies, horns, deep beats, and rock riffs that would feel out of control in anyone else’s hands. While the band enjoyed a massive singles-chart run in the U.S., it’s interesting that only two of those hits are included here, but the album is better in the long run because of it. Rather than a chronological rehashing of what everyone else liked, Funky focuses on those stellar moments that allowed Fatback to take their place in the upper echelon of funk. And even thought the majority of the songs fell by the wayside, it’s refreshing to see them all on Funky, splashed across a flawless set. This is absolutely crucial listening. ~ Amy Hanson, Rovi

Strep Throat
Strep throat is a bacterial infection of the tissues located in the back area of your throat (also known as pharynx) and the adenoids or tonsils. It is a common disease and it is very common cause of bad breath.
Foul mouth odors are actually a symptom of the infection. The tissues mentioned above will get inflamed and irritated and this will cause severe sore throat. Nasal Polyps
Nasal Polyps are a mass of swollen tissue that is mucus covered, which grows out of the sinuses into the nasal passages. More than one nasal polyp can appear and they will block the passage, making it very difficult to breathe and smell. It will cause the person suffering from it to only use the mouth for breathing, which will eventually dry the mouth.
This condition usually appears in individuals who suffer from respiratory allergies or chronic sinus infections. Nasal sprays that contain corticosteroids are used to treat small polyps and if they do not respond to such a treatment option, surgery is needed in order to remove them. The problem is that in most cases nasal polyps do return even after being properly treated. We can thus experience a constant struggle with the condition and bad breath would be the least of our worries in this situation.
Sinusitis
Another highly common infection that causes bad breath is sinusitis. People affected by this condition will tend to notice that their mucus usually have a really bad odor of its own. Let us understand how this comes about.
Mucus is made out of interlinked layers of protein. When mucus covers the back areas of the throat and tongue, it will create an environment that is oxygen free. This condition is known as post nasal drip and it is a direct cause of bad breath in people suffering from sinusitis. Anaerobic bacteria can feed on it and often that post nasal drip can cover large areas of the mouth allowing bacteria to easily multiply and produce waste products. These result in the foul smell we are familiar with. Patients suffering from sinusitis can also experience a constant need to swallowing because of mucus gathering at the back of the throat.
When talking about sinusitis and bad breath, we are dealing with two agents that cause foul odors: mucus and anaerobic bacteria. This is why the bad breath exhibited by patients is one of the strongest of all bad breath cases caused by various infections.

Although all of these infections are well known to cause bad breath, it is important to understand that other infections can also have the same effect on our body. These examples include lung infections and mouth infection. Sometimes they are even linked to each other. For instance, if you are suffering from sinusitis and you are exhibiting dry mouth and throat, this could lead to mucus reaching the lungs because the road to the stomach is not moist enough to guide it properly. We will thus get a complication of sinusitis that will manifest itself as an infection of the lungs.

Also, there is the possibility of developing various complications that can lead to even more problems such as having to undergo surgery.
